Pricing

For Individuals

For the initial consultation, we charge a flat fee of $35. That includes information and care instructions. This charge only applies once we examine the object in person.

The price of the preservation service depends on how many things you want to preserve, and on their shape. We assess your items and then give you a bid. The bid relies on a detailed pricing structure, such as size of item, how much repair needed and how many services performed on it.

We designed a line-item listing in order to give you absolute oversight of the charges. When we give you a bid, you will know all costs in detail before agreeing to anything. Below are some examples to give you a general idea. We never overcharge you or surprise you with unexpected cost. You will pay only what you agreed upon beforehand. Keep in mind that you will be billed for mailing cost.

Cost examples:
• If you have a 4x5 inch piece of paper with minor damage (such as an obituary or wedding announcement), it would cost roughly $15 to preserve it. With major damage the cost is about $35. That is in addition to the $35 service call charge.

• If you have a 10x15 inch item (for example a diploma) with medium damage, it usually costs between 80 and 150 Dollars total..

• A book repair (not including binding) depends on how many things are wrong.  A page reattachment is the cheapest fix at 10 Dollars, a spine replacement the most expensive at 40 Dollars.

• The typical client has one item, chooses all available services and pays between 70 and 150 Dollars.

For Institutions or Persons with larger collections

For larger collections with a focus on organization and storage, we charge $60 per cubic foot of material plus supplies (mostly folders and boxes.) A cubic foot is roughly the size of a standard records storage box. Note that this is mainly for organization, not preservation of individual papers. If any one item needs repair, the cost is additional according to the price list.

Continued long-term maintenance of collections varies in pricing. We need to see the collection before making a bid. However, we will generally follow the per cubic foot price, as maintenance generally means adding of new materials.
